Calling all Junior Ornithologists. Get into the field, up close and personal with the birds in our backyard. Bird banding offers a great opportunity to get close to birds and learn about the diversity of species right in our backyard.

About the event

Aldo Leopold Audubon is partnering with bird bander, Bob Welch of the Waupaca Biological Field Station, to offer an experience of bird banding at Schmeeckle Reserve. Attendees will see how ornithologists capture birds, band them, and release them back into the wild. This event is happending on Saturday May 29th. Space is limited to 12 participants each hour. Pre-registration is required for each participant. Shifts are arranged in one-hour blocks.  Masks Required. Families need to register each child. Parents do not need to register themselves if bringing a child. This program encourages youth to attend, but all ages are welcome.  Attendees may only register for one hour on this day.
