About the event

The Sandhill Wildlife Area has hosted American bison for 50+ years, transforming the land into a vast oak savanna ecosystem. Marvel at the hundreds of acres of lupine that boast one of the largest populations of federally endangered Karner blue butterflies in the Great Lakes Region. Learn why this odd couple, delicate butterflies and massive lumbering herbivores, thrive as roommates. Limit 25 people.

Ride in an open wagon to open bison pasture. Minimal walking through easy terrain. Participants should bring a lunch, dress appropriately for weather, and be prepared for ticks, mosquitos, and deer flies.
