Our Board of Directors

ALAS thrives by having ALAS members serve on our voluntary board of directors. We believe strongly that our board should reflect our membership and its interests. We normally have 12-15 members on our board. The board meets the second Wednesday of the month (September through May) at 7:00-8:30 pm. We do not meet during the summer. There are many opportunities to serve. We try to match board members’ passions and interests. We have a fun group that operates in a congenial manner and pride ourselves on hearing what each member has to say.

As President of your local Audubon Chapter, Susan invites you to get involved! Become a member, join us on fieldtrips, for programs and for other volunteer opportunities. Your involvement only benefits the ALAS community!

Greetings From the President

Susan Schuller has been President of the Aldo Leopold Chapter of Audubon Society since June 2025. Susan joined ALAS Board of Directors in 2018.

Susan is the Executive Director for Recycling Connections. She holds a MS in Natural Resources, BS in Biology/Chemistry. Served in Peace Corps Tanzania as a chemistry teacher in 1998-2000. She has over two decades of teaching environmental education and sustainability topics. She has served on several boards and committees to advance environmental issues related to green schools, bird conservation, and environmental education. She holds a subpermit for bird banding leading a study in Bukolt Park on songbirds with her daughter.

As a mother of two young teens, she is a passionate soccer mom who loves spending time in the outdoors on many adventures with her family. Susan is dedicated to connecting communities to their resources to help build a more sustainable and healthier world.
