Field Trip - Overnight: Crex Escapade - Exploring the Northwest Sands

Join us as we explore one of Wisconsin's largest wildlife refuges in search of some special birds, butterflies, and wildflowers! Crex Meadows is located in Burnett County just north of the small town of Grantsburg. The expansive refuge hosts sand prairie and vast sedge meadows found in few other places in the state.

We will meet at 7AM at the Visitor Center at 102 E Crex Ave, Grantsburg, Wi. From there we will car caravan or carpool around the refuge looking for birds and butterflies over the next several hours. We will break for lunch around noon; there are several restaurants in Grantsburg to choose from. After lunch we will rendezvous again at the visitor center around 2PM, then we will head down to Fish Lake SWA for butterflies. Around 5:30PM we will wrap up and folks can head off for dinner.
