About the event

The Ice Age Trail from Edminster Road through Hartman Creek State Park is especially scenic in winter with a fresh cover of new snow. We have not had that in the last few years, but maybe we will be lucky this year. It is an excellent trail providing easy hiking through a variety of woodlands.

We can meet in Stevens Point at the parking lot on the southeast corner of highway 10 and Brilowski Road (highway R, south of Fleet Farm and Jung's) at noon Saturday February 10th to carpool, or at 12:45 PM at the trailhead parking area along Edminster Road, one mile east of Portage County Highway D and about one mile south of Highway 54. The intersection of Highway 54 and D is in Portage County one mile east of the Waupaca County line. Follow D south for a half mile, turn east on Badger Road, for about a quarter mile to the Edminster Road, then follow Edminster Road east for about a half mile to the parking area on the south side of the road. We will hike to Windfeldt Road in the Park. We will park some cars (state park permits needed) where we intend to finish so we can shuttle back to the Edminster parking area. We expect to finish the walk around 3 PM.

For more information on trail conditions or in case of bad weather, call Bob Freckmann, 715-344-0686, or email: rfreckma@uwsp.edu.
