About the event
One of the goals of ALAS is to improve our local green spaces - this includes the removal of invasive plants like garlic mustard so that our native plants can reestablish in these areas. Garlic mustard not only displaces and shades out native plants but drains vital nutrients from the soil. The roots of garlic mustard also release a chemical which alters the underlying fungal network and can have an impact on the growth of other nearby plants. Garlic mustard seeds can remain viable for up to a decade, so it is important we show up every year to mitigate the problem. The more volunteers we have for this effort, the easier it will be, so invite a friend!
We will meet in the parking area near Della St at noon. Bring garden gloves, good shoes, weather appropriate attire, and good vibes! Snacks and water are also a good idea.…
