About the event
This time slot is full. You may still come, but we will give priority to the kids who signed up before you. There is still space in the 7am, 10am, and 11am time slots.
Aldo Leopold Audubon is partnering with bird bander, Bob Welch of the Waupaca Biological Field Station, to offer an experience of bird banding at Schmeeckle Reserve. Attendees will see how ornithologists capture birds, band them, and release them back into the wild. This event is happening on Saturday, May 28th from 7am-Noon. Space is limited to 20 children (18 and under) each hour. Pre-registration is required for each young participant (ages 2 and under do not need to register). Shifts are arranged in one-hour blocks. Families need to register each child. Parents do not need to register themselves if bringing a child. This program encourages youth to attend, but all ages are welcome. If you are an adult who would like to come, you are welcome anytime. We cannot guarantee everyone will have a chance to release a bird. For the safety of the birds, this is a weather dependent activity. If there are high winds, storms, or heavy rain, this event may be cancelled.
