Both Janet and Karen have spent decades pursuing their passion for birds and conservation. Janet Smith holds a master’s degree in Natural Resources with an emphasis in Wildlife from the University of Michigan, where she studied the impacts of human activities on Bald Eagles. After retiring from North Central Conservancy Trust in 2020, Janet has continued to support conservation through volunteer work with local organizations and her service on the ALAS board, where she currently serves as Treasurer. Her passion for birding has taken her to five continents.
